There's a moment in Bellini’s Casta Diva that catches in my chest every time I hear it.

The first time, I was a guest at a private performance in Barcelona at a house overlooking the sea. A low crescent moon, balmy sea air, and pure, aching notes conspired to stir something in all of us that night.

The soprano with the voice of a goddess wore a skirt I instantly knew I must reproduce for you. Two exquisitely-embroidered panels, front and back, are the canvas for intricate champagne embroidery, beading, and sequins. Together, they create a dazzling musical score all their own. The pleated chiffon side panels give movement and grace to every step.
