Black Water Dragon Limited Edition Collection

The Black Water Dragon is the eighteenth creation in the David Oscarson™ series of Limited Edition Writing Instruments, a tribute to the revered Chinese symbol of the Dragon. This collection is available in two primary color variations, each limited to just 88 pieces in both Fountain Pen and Rollerball styles.

Dating back to 3000 BC, the Dragon is a symbol of power, good fortune, and protection in Chinese culture. It represents happiness, immortality, fertility, and strength, as well as the divine power to command rain and control water bodies. In China, the Dragon is the most sacred of creatures, a source of national pride, and a symbol of the Chinese people, who call themselves Long De Chuan Ren (Descendants of the Dragon). The Dragon, often depicted with a precious pearl, is believed to ward off evil and protect the innocent.

The Year of the Dragon recurs every 12 years. In 2012, a significant Water year according to the Chinese Five Elements system, the color Black corresponded with Water, making it the year of the Black Water Dragon. The Water Dragon embodies adaptability, negotiation skills, and a more restrained approach, contrasting with the fiercer characteristics of other Dragons.

In Chinese mythology, the Dragon is depicted as a wingless, snake-like creature with divine qualities. Each of its four short legs has five toes, symbolizing its connection to earth and water, and it is said to emerge only in the second month of the Chinese calendar.

The Black Water Dragon Collection combines detailed Guilloché engraving and a blend of Translucent and Opaque Hard Enamel. The pen’s body is intricately engraved with the ancient Chinese symbol for water in raised relief. Each piece is kiln-fired and hand-filed repeatedly to achieve a luxurious, enduring Hard Enamel finish.
